Eden: 5 Month Stats

For my records because having Canaan's stats just came in handy to compare. At 5 months, 1 week Eden is 24.8 inches long and weighs 11.4 lbs. (At this age Canaan was about 27 inches and 15 lbs.) The doctor was not happy with her weight gain because she only gained 1.4 lbs in 3 months and wants her ingesting an extra 200-300 calories a day. So she is now on a rice cereal bulk up diet and has to come back in 15 days to be weighed again.

Mother's Day started with Nate and Canaan making me my breakfast of choice: Nutella-Stuffed Yeast Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing. Nate did a great job on his first try with yeast. Canaan's birthday twin, Pauli, had a fantastic second birthday. She was Canaan's first friend that he made in Quito and so it was fun to celebrate with her. Her mom has been a good friend to me too! Birthdays are a big deal here and people go all out regardless of age. Our little backyard bash was probably a total cultural oddity for them!

Carnaval is the equivalent of Mardi Gras that we experience here. Except it doesn't involve beads and nudity usually. Instead the main event is getting together to eat and a water free-for-all.
